Croyde Bay, in North Devon, is steeped in charm and utterly captivating for surfers and families alike. Camping at Croyde Bay means you can enjoy some of the most picturesque scenery in Britain. This beautiful area is not just for surfers, it is also a walker’s paradise with rolling hills that stretch as far as the eye can see and coastlines so enchanting that they bewitch the senses and leave you wanting more. After a blissful day on the beach, site seeing or exploring the cliff tops you can relax outside a traditional pub, enjoying the gentle evening sunshine before tucking into local food at one of the many restaurants bars or bistros.

Mitchum’s Village

Situated in the heart of the Croyde, near to the village’s restaurants and pubs, this excellent village site with all mod cons was featured in The Times as one of the best 50 campsites in the UK. It has superb facilities including ultra clean toilets, hot showers, a ladies powder room, an outside washing up area and a special outside cold shower for wet suits.

Beach Campsite

This convenient site, situated right next to the beach and overlooking the bay, has exactly the same great facilities as the Mitchum’s Village site, the only difference being that you are right near the water ready to do some serious surfing. In fact just to help make your trip even better we now offer surfboard and wetsuit hire at both campsites.

Surfing

Surfing is ideal for a family holiday with a difference and with its fantastic beaches Croyde Bay is nothing short of legendary for keen surfers. It is world renowned as one of the best and most consistent surf centres in Britain and is the closest South West location for surfing from London, the Midlands and the North of England. There is surfing available for every level of experience and a variety of tuition options and surf schools in Croyde itself. This part of Devon is only about 45 to 60 minutes from the M5, making it a much closer option than surfing the beaches in Cornwall.

Other Activities in North Devon

Apart from surfing there are plenty of other things to do in and around Croyde Bay. You can try your hand at quad biking, clay shooting, paintballing, climbing, snorkelling, golf, off-road driving, horse riding and even zorbing. You need never be bored even if the weather isn’t perfect - although it often is round this piece of coast.
